Joe Weidner shares the story of selling the home he built and lived in with his wife, Gayle, for over fifty years.
Selling the home, I designed and built myself in 1973 was not something I took lightly. My late wife, Gayle, and I spent many meaningful years there. The decision to sell was closely tied to my move to Moravian Manor. I'd been on the waiting list and was uncertain when a place that fit my needs would become available. I needed a Realtor who would understand that and allow me to move forward at my own pace.
I first became familiar with Mark Thudium by seeing his name on signs throughout my neighborhood, as he had helped several neighbors sell their homes. When Mark came out to my house, I explained my situation and that I didn't know exactly when I would be ready to list, since my move depended on availability at Moravian Manor. From the beginning, Mark was patient, respectful, and willing to listen. He never pressured me or pushed for answers, and he allowed me to stay in control throughout the entire process.
We stayed in contact for a couple of years as I waited for the right time to move. During that period, Mark remained consistent, responsive, and understanding. My professional background required long-term planning, so I appreciated Mark's organized and thoughtful approach. My wife and I had been downsizing for nearly ten years, and I had time to go through my belongings carefully. Mark guided me through what needed to be done and connected me with reliable professionals who helped make the process manageable.
When the time finally came to list my home, Mark had a clear and well-planned strategy. The timeline was realistic, and I felt confident moving forward. The house received strong interest and multiple offers, ultimately selling for more than I expected. Mark reviewed everything with me, explained my options clearly, and helped me make the decision I felt comfortable with.
The transition itself could not have gone more smoothly. I was able to move into Moravian Manor earlier than anticipated, which gave me time to settle in before handing over my home. From start to finish, Mark and his team were professional, timely, and supportive. I always felt at ease working with him, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience or a better person to guide me through such a significant transition.
